Learn how Hanahau‘oli School’s Junior Kindergarden and Kukunaokalā (Kindergarten and grade 1) classes employ a thematic unit focused on the weather to explore the essential question, How do the weather and the environment we live in affect the way we live our lives? This unit plan demonstrates the way Hanahau‘oli classes revisit the concepts of Change and Constancy as well as Cycles and Patterns over the course of several years. This study supports school-wide learning outcomes of respecting the value of diversity, beginning to understand how the world works, and developing a beginning understanding of the interdependence of humans and their environment and the role he/she plays in it.
